What are our Nation’s Security Goals?
Rest in Peace, Victims of Fulani Herdsmen Massacre in Benue and Regions around Nigeria
Initially, I was not going to write about this incident. I was so saddened by the fact that people die in our country and there’s no retribution or solution. At this point in Benue State, Fulani herdsmen attacked some villages and over 70 people were killed. May the souls of the victims of the Fulani Herdsman Massacre in Benue State rest in Peace. What Nation security goals? is there a solution to these atrocities? What is the Benue state Government doing to find out the perpetrators? Can the Nigerian government make us feel safe?
The Lagos Benin expressway had some serious issues. Buses were stopped and passengers killed. I’m confused at the fact that the Fulani herdsmen are emboldened to commit atrocious crimes such as these. In Nigeria, what is a human life worth? Does the government care about where its citizens live or die? Let me guess, it is based on class and economic status that determines the value of life. What are our Nation’s Security Goals?
What Nation Security Goals
I have been listening to various news network in Nigeria from Channels, and AiT discuss solutions to this problem. Guest speakers from professors, to Cattle-rearer association leaders are preferring solutions. Nothing related to punishing the perpetrators of this heinous crime. From what I have heard, I’m a bit confused. Isn’t there a consequence for murder anymore? Isn’t there a consequence for this massacre and invasion of property? What is going on here? From my understanding this problem has continued prior to this current administration. It seems to be getting worse during Buhari’s tenure. What are our Nation’s Security Goals? Is the president enabling these atrocities? Does it mean we should revere cows instead of our fellow human beings?
