12 Celebrities of Christmas

There are 12 celebrities of Christmas Waje who have used their talents to give back to society. Transform Nigeria wants to showcase celebrities who are also philanthropists in 2017.  Nigerian Celebrities have the visibility to give back to the country.  We are going to showcase some of them that are gifted and give back to society.  This time is a season of giving so we are going to show case from 12 now to one on Christmas day.

6. WAJE

Aituaje Aina Vivian Ebele Iruobe is Nigerian singer whose vocal range covers three octaves.  WAJE is an acronym for “Words Aren’t Just Enough”.  She grew up in Benin City, Edo State. Her dad is from Edo, while her mum hails from Onitsha, Anambra State.

She started singing when she was a young girl. WAJE attended Word of Faith Group of Schools, where her musical career sprung up as a choir member. Once she sang gospel tunes to the delight of the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa of Church of God misson int. He was impressed by her singing and decided to help sponsor her education. After school, WAJE became a multi-award winning musician.  She is also one of the judges of the current hit music show, “The Voice Nigeria”.

In 2012, WAJE launched her non-profit organisation WAJE’s Safe House.  The mission is to provide support to women and children across Africa.  The safe house’s first project was financial support to the children’s primary school slum town of Makoko in Lagos. Most recently, the organization partnered with women organisations in 3 cities in Nigeria to provide computer education and facilities to young and adult women.

She also partners with NGOs to address the inequities in Nigeria’s healthcare system to avoid maternal mortality in Nigeria.
